The Fun Sleepover

Board games, sleepovers, and night target shopping are things that you must do when you meet your cousins. If you don’t you will regret, it; this is expert advice take it or leave it.

It all started when I was in LA meeting my mom’s brother Dilip, and his family at their house. Everyone, including my aunt and my 2nd uncle all were meeting for a small get together since it was our 2nd to last day of our LA trip. When we arrived, I greeted everyone and then immediately my cousin Sid, Ankush and I started playing indoor basketball. We tried a lot of trick shots, and I made one of them.

After playing for 20 min, we ate some nice Indian food for dinner. While we were eating me and Ankush coerced with my dad and his mom to see if we could have a sleepover together at Ankush’s house. They were very hesitant because Ankush had school the next day. Then finally they agreed and let us have the sleepover. Just as dinner was almost over my older cousin Sunena asked us kids if we wanted to try something that she had made, it was called hibiscus tea. Imagine black berry sour patch kids with the flowery-sweetness of rose water & some herbs – that’s what it tasted like. It was so good, I asked for seconds. Now I see why adults enjoy their tea so much.

When the party died down and when everybody started to leave, Ankush, the rest of his family (my 2nd uncle’s family) and me, went to their car. Neha, Ankush’s sister said that she needed to run an errand at Target. Ankush and I both wanted to play at home, but we also wanted to go to target to look around for chips and yummy junk food. We ended up deciding to go to target because, well, why not?!

When we got to Target my aunt gave us her phone so that we could call her in case of emergency. Wow! Two eleven-year-olds free to do whatever they want, well almost whatever. Before we parted ways, she also said that we could buy one thing we wanted from Target. Double trouble, and more fun! We immediately ran to the video games section, but we didn’t see anything that we liked. We then walked towards the board game and toy section, on the way we bumped into Ankush’s mom and sister. They came along with us in search of a toy. At the board game and toy section is where we found a whole load of games that intrigued us.

With so many amazing games to choose from our brains went haywire and did not know which ones to pick. We looked around and then found the Battleship board game, and we both knew we had to get it. While we were walking out of that aisle, we both looked and found laser guns. Now we were in a dilemma, we could not pick between the two. We did ini-minie-mini-mo a few times. Then my aunt surprised us and said we could get both! That was the Target adventure, and then we went straight home.

Showers, brush, ready for bed – not yet! We played one game of Battleship. We learned how to play the game, and learned as we played since it was our first time with this game. Time was ticking, now 9:00pm, and we both wanted to play with the laser guns, so we quickly unboxed them and went downstairs to start playing. We played a few rounds till 9:15, of course I won all of them because no one can beat my aim, it’s too good! We both were getting tired, so we went upstairs and slept.

In the morning Ankush’s school alarm went off at 7:00 so we both got up, brushed and he was ready for school. Ankush went into his mom’s room to see if she was awake. She was tired and she knew Ankush’s wanted to stay home from school, so she let him. Ankush came running back to me and told me the exciting news, that he could stay home from school. We were both so excited, what a great end to a perfect night filled with board games, a sleepover and night shopping at Target!
