Holi is a celebration of good over evil, colors, family, relationships and the beginning of Spring. I bet after I tell you all about it, you’ll want to celebrate it too!
Did you know that Holi is not just about throwing colors at people? It has significant meaning to it. It is the story of good over evil. The story is about a King who is evil and kills everyone who does not worship him. He has a son named Prahlad who doesn’t worship him either and instead worships the God, Vishnu. The King did not like this at all so he made a plan with his sister to help him kill Prahlad. The King was going to make his sister sit in a bonfire along with Prahlad. They were only faking the part about his sister. The sister came with a magical fire resistant cloak. When they sat in the fire, the cloak flew over to Prahlad and the Kings sister died instead. Prahlad’s father died too because the God Vishnu killed him right after. Some may not believe this and say it is a mythical story and maybe it is, but it represents a good message, good wins over evil.

This is the history, now let me tell you about the fun part about Holi. Holi is about making your relationships better and creating new bonds. Holi is the start of Spring and you should get rid of any bad vibes. My favorite part about Holi is when you throw colors at people. We have even more fun by mixing colors with water and shooting friends and family with colored water. I love sneaking up on friends from the back, they never know what hit them. We run around, we play, it is so much fun all day long. You get colorful dirty and no one cares.

In the end, Holi should be celebrated because it is not only fun but it promotes new friendships and good vibes.
This was so great to learn. I never knew about this and it seems SUPER fun and I want to celebrate it. I do wonder where you get the pigments from? They are so bright and pretty.
